For the first time in history, a Springfield MO team won the State Soccer Championship. Hard fighting Springfield Catholic showed all their fighting Irish to become that team. They beat St. Louis based Trinity Catholic to claim the Class 1 crown.
St. Louis has long been a stronghold for girls soccer. In fact, the team from Trinity beat Catholic last year for the title. So, this was a real grudge match for the girls.
